On June 23, 2021, CSRME and Hanjing-to-Weihe River Valley Water Diversion Project Construction Co., Ltd. (Shaanxi Province), jointly organized the investigation activities. 13 people took part in an on-site investigation at the TBM construction section of the Qinling Tunnel, including academician Manchao He, the President of the CSRME, Mr. Yan Su, the Deputy General Manager of Hanjing-to-Weihe River Valley Water Diversion Project Construction Co., Ltd. (Shaanxi Province), the President of the Institute of Scientific Research, and Professor Xiaojie Yang, the Secretary-General of the CSRME.

The Han-to-Wei Water Diversion Project was a large-scale cross-basin water diversion project from the Han River Basin in southern Shaanxi to the Wei River Basin in Guanzhong. It was of great significance to the optimization of water resources, people's livelihood and economic development in Shaanxi Province. The maximum depth of the Qinling Tunnel is 2050 meters. The construction difficulty of TBM for Qinling Tunnel of Han-to-Wei Water Diversion Project was rare in the world. The construction safety and construction progress were severely restricted due to the superimposed effects of long distance continuous super hard rock, high frequency strong rock burst, water inrush, high temperature and humidity and other adverse geological conditions. To solve engineering problems effectively, CSRME organized scientists to provide advice and suggestions on this national major project.
