Many Domestic Experts in the field of Energy and Chemicals contribute to the Energy Development in Yan'an

On July 20, 2021, the "Innovation China • Intelligence Yan'an" high-level forum on the high-quality development of energy and chemicals was held in Yan'an, Shaanxi Province. Approximately 200 people including the top ten representatives of the CAST and its branch in Shaanxi, representatives of scientific and technological workers in Yan'an, representatives from the CSRME, its branches, and other relevant units, attended the meeting.

In the opening ceremony of the forum, Academician He Manchao, the president of the CSRME, introduced the work performance "Targeted Poverty Alleviation through High-tech Projects" in Yan'an and delivered a speech entitled "The Future of Yan'an Coal Energy Mining under the Dual-Carbon Goal". Academician He presented the opportunities and challenges that need to be faced under the dual-carbon goal; the N100 method in coal mining under carbon emissions policies; and the new construction method in the practice of the Yan'an project from three aspects.

During the session for expert's report, Academician Zhao Yangsheng, the president of Shanxi Provincial Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, made a presentation entitled "Oil Shale In-situ Heat Injection Development Technology and Silk Road Extension".  Wu Yican, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences/International Nuclear Energy Academy, made a presentation entitled "Development and Application Prospects of Underground Neutron Power Plants". Academician Li Shucai, the executive director of the CSRME, gave a presentation entitled "Control of Water Disasters and Protection of Water Resources and Surrounding Resources in Underground Engineering Construction and Operation". Prof. Wu Faquan, the executive director of the CSRME, made a presentation entitled "Practice of Loess Engineering Land Reclamation in Yan'an New District", and Prof. Wu Lixin, the vice president of the Ocean University of China, made a presentation entitled "Thinking on Coal Industry Development under Dual Carbon Goal". Those experts' reports have profound ideas and rich content, and provided suggestions and strategies for the high-quality development of Yan'an's energy and chemical industry, which was fully affirmed by the representatives presented at the Forum.

In this event, experts put forward a new innovation-driven strategy for the energy development in Yan'an, combining Yan'an's development needs with scientific and technological innovation results, transforming natural resource endowments into economic development, and providing innovation dynamic for the development of the former revolutionary base.
