The Seventh Preparatory Meeting for the ARMS11 Successfully Held 

The seventh preparatory meeting for the 11th Asian Rock Mechanics Symposium (ARMS11) was held online on August 9, 2021. The president of the CSRME Academician Manchao He, the vice-president of the CSRME Academician Hongpu Kang, the vice-president of the ISRM Professor Qiang Yang, and other organizing committee members and session chairs attended the meeting. The secretary-general of the CSRME Professor Xiaojie Yang hosted the meeting.

The vice-secretary-general of the CSRME Dr Zhuo Wang reported the latest preparation progress for the ARMS11, which includes 28 sessions and 61 exhibitions (8 international exhibitions). The conference received 1084 abstracts, 800 full papers ( 50 papers from 14 Asian countries and 32 papers from other foreign counties). 

There were 6 experts from foreign counties and 4 experts from China who gave tentative presentation at the meeting. Academician Hongpu Kang emphasized that the invited keynotes are important for the ARMS11, and provided academic and technical suggestions on the presentations.

Academician Manchao He addressed that more experts from Asian countries should be invited to give keynotes to show the representative research progress of rock mechanics in Asia and the major national projects. Academician He pointed out that the originality of the presentations should be highlighted. Because of the epidemic situation, the organizing committee should carefully consider the online and offline presentation modes. Academician He has thanked the colleagues who made contributions to the ARMS11, and believed that the conference will be held successfully.
