Professor Faquan Wu won the IAEG Lifetime Achievement Award 2020 - HANS CLOOS MEDAL

According to the China Committee of the International Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment (IAEG), professor Faquan Wu from the Shaoxing University won the IAEG Lifetime Achievement Award 2020 - Hans Cloos Medal. The award ceremony and Hans Cloos Medal speech will be held on September 20-24, 2020 in Athens, Greece at the IAEG-2020 annual conference and the Third European Regional Conference for Engineering Geology.


The Hans Cloos Medal was founded in 1976 by IAEG. It aims to reward those engineering geologists who have gained international recognition and merit for their contribution to the development and advancement ofEngineering Geology. The Hans Cloos Medal is awarded every two years. Up to now, 22 winners around theworld have won this award.

Professor Faquan Wu is currently the second-level professor of Shaoxing University, a doctoral supervisor, and a super expert of Zhejiang Province. He is also an expert who enjoys the State Council Special Allowance. He once served as the Director of the Key Laboratory of Engineering Geomechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Deputy Chairman of IAEG, and the Deputy president and Secretary-General of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering (CSRME). In the year 2013, he was elected as a foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
