A Symposium on Wudongde Hydropower Station was Successfully Held

On June 29, 2020, The commissioning ceremony of the first batch of generator units of the Wudongde Hydropower Station was held via online video conference. The main venue was in Beijing, and the branch venues were in other provinces like Yunnan and Sichuan, and so on. At the ceremony, they conveyed the important instructions from President Xi Jinping, Wudongde Hydropower Station is located at the border of Luquan County (Yunnan Province) and Huidong County (Sichuan Province). It has been constructed by China Three Gorges Group Co., Ltd. since December 2015. The installed gross capacity is 10.2 million KW and the average annual generating capacity is 38.91 billion KWH. All the generator units of Wudongde Hydropower Station were scheduled to be put into operation before July 2021.

On July 2, 2020, the Party Committee of the Science and Technology Community of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the Chinese Society for Rock  Mechanics and Engineering  (CSRME)  jointly hosted a online video symposium on the theme of "Learning from General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions, adopting a new vision for development, and climbing new heights in science and technology". This symposium was presided over by professor Xia-ting Feng, President of CSRME.

Mr. Zhaoping Lv, a member of the Leading Party Members' Group and secretary of the Secretariat of the CAST, and professor Qihu Qian, the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors and the winner of the Highest National Science and Technology Award, attended this video symposium.

The rest of the attendees included the members of the Party Committee of the CSRME Council, all the CSRME directors, the representatives of units participating in the construction of Wudongde Hydropower Station, the representatives of scientific and technological workers in the field of rock mechanics and engineering involved in the construction of the Wudongde Hydropower Station, the representatives of 13 national societies in the second group of the pilot work under the control of the party committee of the CSRME council, and related units and individuals.

This symposium was broadcast live on the "Kejie" platform through the "Tencent Conference Room". The cumulative viewing times of this symposium reached more than 28,000.
