On December 26, 2020, the Blue Book 2020 on China Urban Underground Space Development was released at the symposium on "Opportunities and Challenges of Underground Space under the Opportunity of Territorial Space Planning".
This Blue Book indicated that, according to the Comprehensive Evaluation System of Underground Space, by the end of 2019, the top 10 cities were these cities located in the key development areas of China's underground space. Among them, Shanghai, Beijing and Nanjing ranked the top three respectively. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, China's underground space industry system has shown strong market potential. The main functions suitable for underground space include transportation, commercial services, municipal administration, pipeline, storage, etc.
