The World Earth Day - CSRME Carried Out Science Popularization Activities on Geological Hazards at the Science Popularization Education Base "Three Gorges Research Center".

April 22, 2021 was the 52nd anniversary of the World Earth Day, with the theme of "Cherish the Earth, Harmonious Coexistence between Man and Nature". We took this opportunity to open the Badong Field Test Site of CSRME "Three Gorges Research Center" (TGRC) to the public. In particular, contests on natural resources science knowledge with prizes and Earth Day Science Film Week were held for young people. In addition, some science popularization activities were also jointly organized with Badong County Natural Resources and Planning Bureau and Badong County Science and Technology Association.

Professor Xiong Chengren, the Director of the TGRC Test Site, preached to local residents about the basic knowledge of earth sciences, the identification, avoidance and prevention of geological disasters, such as landslides, collapses, debris flow, etc. Associate Professor Zou Zongxing explained to 81 children of Badong Love Kindergarten the scientific knowledge of the Earth. He also preached to the residents of Badong County about the popular science knowledge on disaster prevention and mitigation.

The service staff of the Education Base conducted science activities in the Yifu Museum and the Future City Campus through the distribution of leaflets, award-winning questions, scientific propaganda. We also held "Earth Day" popular science activities at Wuxia Square in Badong County with the staff of Badong County Planning and Natural Resources Bureau and Badong County Association for Science and Technology.

The Education Base of CSRME TGRC was based on Badong field test site, which devoted itself to the science popularization of geological disaster prevention and control. The TGRC was awarded a title "Popular Science Education Base of Territorial Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources" in 2016. It was awarded a title "Popular Science Education Base of CSRME" in 2018. It was also awarded a title "Popular Science Education Base of Hubei Province" in 2019. Until now, it has become an important place for conducting popular science education on earth sciences and geological disaster prevention in the Three Gorges reservoir area.
