The CSRME Held an Enlarged Meeting of the Council to Deploy Key Tasks for 2022

On March 13, the CSRME held the 3rd enlarged meeting of the Executive Committee of the ninth Council in Beijing to deploy the work in 2022. A total of 304 people attended the meeting, including members of the "3+1" leadership team of the CSMRE, all directors, heads of branches and local societies, the person in charge of the Journal of the CSRME, heads of Council of the China Union for Mining Innovation, the China Intellectual Property Development Alliance, the scientific and technological innovation consortium, and the secretariat staff of the CSMRE. Among them, 12 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering attended the meeting. The meeting was held both "online + offline". 

This meeting stressed that the tasks of the CSMRE in 2022 should focus on serving and supporting scientific and technological innovation. The following ten aspects will be the focus of attention. First, the CSRME will continue to compile a series of books called "In Praise of the Spirit of Scientists" in order to promote and publicize the spirit of scientists. Second, the CSRME will promote the deep integration of the business and technological innovation, create a technological innovation consortium of "National Key Laboratory-National Major Project", and establish eight major scientific and technological innovation bases. Third, the CSRME will build a first-class scientific and technological innovation team to serve major national projects. Fourth, the CSRME will continue to run well three journals including "Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering", "Rock Mechanics Bulletin" and "Chinese Journal of Underground Space and Engineering" sponsored by the CSRME. Furthermore, we will do a good job in the re-election of the editorial board and the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Journal, and drive the 5 joint journals of the CSRME to move towards first-class journals. Fifth, the CSRME will promote the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with the real economy, consolidate the effectiveness of targeted high-tech assistance, and actively carry out activities by taking the "Innovation China" technology service group as a carrier. Sixth, the CSRME will hold CHINA ROCK 2022 with the cosponsors of the International Consortium on Geo-Disaster Reduction (ICGdR) and the American Rock Mechanics Association (ARMA) to create a high-end brand academic conference. Seventh, the CSRME will establish and improve the hotline mechanism for the President of the CSRME and the ARMA. We will also promote the international comparative research program called "Measurement of Newtonian forces across faults for earthquake prediction", which was jointly initiated by rock mechanics scientists from China and the United States. Eighth, the CSRME will further strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, actively bid for the 16th ISRM International Congress in 2027, to recruit foreign scientific and technological workers to serve in the CSRME. Ninth, the CSRME will attract and promote international scientific and technological organizations to set up offices in China, run well the Secretariat of ICGdR in China, and promote the development of geological hazards and disaster prevention and reduction. Tenth, the CSRME will establish a service system for the development of scientific and technological talents covering all ages. We will continue to do well in organizing the Science and Technology Awards, and cultivate first-class innovation achievements. We will try to do a good job in recommending iconic talents and cultivating first-class innovative talents.
