The 6th Preparatory Meeting for the 11th Asian Rock Mechanics Symposium (ARMS-11) was Successfully Held

On June 9, 2021, The 6th preparatory meeting for the 11th Asian Rock Mechanics Symposium was held in Beijing in the way of "Online + Offline". Professor Qiang Yang, the Vice President of the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM), attended this meeting. Professor Lixing Huang, the Secretary-General of the ARMS-11, presided over this meeting. A total of 69 people including the organizing committee, working committee, and heads of each branch venue attended this meeting.

Dr. Zhuo Wang, the Deputy Secretary-General of the CSRME, gave a report on the basic situation, setting goals, overall progress of the preparatory work, existing issues and next steps. She also clarified the annual goals of this Symposium: Internationalization- "2122", namely 200 international representatives online, 12 international branch venues, 20 international exhibitors; Large Scale-"3528", namely 3,500 people, 28 branch venues; Integration- "5916", namely 500 academics reports, 9 technical trainings, and 160 exhibitors. In addition, a detailed introduction was given especially for a summary on current preparatory work and full-text paper submission rate of each branch venue, as well as the exhibitors. 

Subsequently, the person in charge of each branch venue reported on the organization plan, current preparation situation, existing issues, and next working plan.

Professor Qiang Yang, the Vice President of the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM), Professor Lixing Huang, the Secretary-General of the ARMS-11, and Wenli Xu commented on the report from a holistic perspective and answered some questions, Dr. Zhuo Wang, the Deputy Secretary-General of the CSRME, made some supplements and emphasized that the ARMS-11 should highlight its internationality in three aspects: academic papers, international exhibitors and registered participants.

Finally, Professor Qiang Yang expressed his gratitude to the staff of each branch venue for all the hard work they did for the ARMS-11, and would carefully study and provide solutions to the problems raised by attendees. He believed that the ARMS-11 must be held successfully with the joint efforts of everyone.

This meeting promoted the progress of the preparatory work for the ARMS-11, and also improved the next working plan of 28 branch venues.
