ICGdR Holds Presidium Meeting in Italy, with Awards for Outstanding Young Scientist and Best PhD Thesis

On July 22, 2024, the International Consortium on Geo-disaster Reduction (ICGdR) held its Presidium meeting in Salerno, Italy. The meeting elected the new Executive Council members: Professor Masahiro Yoshida was elected as President, with Academician Manchao He, Professor Beena Ajmera, Professor Michel Jaboyedoff, and Professor Vit Vilimek as Vice Presidents. Professor Fawu Wang was elected as Executive Director. Professors Shengwen Qi, Yu Huang, Patrick Wassmer, Ranjan Kumar Dahal, Teuku Faisal Fathani, Sandro Moretti, and Netra Prakash Bhandary were elected as Vice Executive Directors. Professors Tonglu Li, Qianggong Cheng, Yifei Cui, Jun Shen, Ping Sun, and Hans-Balder Havenith were elected as Executive Council members. Professor Masakatsu Miyajima was appointed as Secretary-General, with Professors Zili Dai, Bo Li, Wuwei Mao, and Hufeng Yang serving as Deputy Secretaries-General.

Nine candidates were nominated for the "Outstanding Young Scientist Award”, including four young scientists from China: Professor Qing Lü from Zhejiang University, Professor Zhigang Tao from China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), Professor Jianhong Ye from the Wuhan Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Bo Li from Tongji University.
